Writer-in-Residence

Susanne Davis is a CWP Visiting Writer for 2007-08. She is presenting a 5-session series entitled Writer As Witness. Susanne is also available to serve as a Writer-in-Residence for schools.

Susanne Davis's short stories have been published in numerous journals such as: American Short Fiction, Notre Dame Review, descant, Feminist Studies, St. Petersburg Review (forthcoming), Zone 3, Carve and Boston Fiction Annual Review, and others.  Her work has won awards and recognition including:  Hemingway First Novel Award, American Short Fiction Contest (second place), mention as distinguished story in Best American Short Stories series, finalist for the Reynolds Price Short Fiction Award and the Brenda Ueland Prose Prize, semi-finalist for the Indiana Review prize and short-listed for the Raymond Carver Award.  
 
A section of her novel, GRAVITY HILL, was featured at the Boston Fiction Festival and chosen as a semi-finalist for the Indiana Review Prize.  An early draft of the novel was selected for the final round of the Heekin Group Foundation's James Fellowship, and was a semi-finalist for the Dana Award for Novel in Progress.
 
Susanne holds an MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop and teaches at the University of Connecticut, where she is resident director of the Summer Study Abroad Program in St. Petersburg, Russia.  For the 2007-08 academic year, she is Visiting Writer at the Connecticut Writing Project and also for the Connecticut Review.
