Teacher as Witness

5 Session Yearlong Series Begins on 9/15/07

Teacher as Witness is a yearlong five session workshop series. To write as witness is to express important truths, whether those truths are personal, political, or social.  We live in our time, inescapably tied to it, shaped by it and shaping it.  In this five session workshop, we will cultivate an eye for truth: writing first from home to explore who is doing the seeing, then observing small details to extract larger meanings, writing portraits of people and places, crafting scenes and ultimately a fiction or nonfiction story (our own or others’) that reveals the beating heart laid bare in words on the page.  At year’s end, Susanne hopes to create the opportunity for writers to share bits of these stories of witness on public radio.  Contact sdavisstorrs@aol.com or visit www.susannedavis.com for more information.

Presenter: Susanne Davis is currently serving as a Visiting Writer for the CWP and is available to schools as a Writer-in-Residence. Click here for more information about Susanne and the Writer-in-Residence program.
