Non-Traditional Assessment and Writing

This interactive presentation redefines assessment in the middle school writing workshop classroom.  While supporting the workshop philosophy, topics for this presentation include assessing the young-adult writer, discovering what motivates young-adult writers, and the importance of knowing the writing development of your students.

Presenter: Bill Farr, Ph.D. and Kim Richards

Brief Bio: Retired from UCONN’s Neag School of Education, Bill Farr, PhD, is a Literacy Specialist and Consultant for several Connecticut school districts. Kim Richards is a doctoral student at UCONN’s Neag School of Education.  She is a 1999 Aetna Fellow of the Connecticut Writing Project, and taught 4th- and 5th-grade in Stafford, CT.
