Using Music to Inspire WritersThis workshop will explore the theoretical foundations for using music in writing instruction from kindergarten through high school, and will provide examples of its practical application in the classroom. Music is a powerful means of eliciting emotional responses and ideas to engage students in writing. It provides a wonderful opportunity to evoke sensory detail that can hone communication of ideas and develop an aesthetic stance. Additionally, music and literature share terminology that embodies important concepts that can be illustrated and discussed through music. Using music, an educator can address multiple intelligence issues, cultural diversity and differentiation of instruction to reach e ach st udent effectively.
