Internet Tools to Enhance Student Collaboration & Extend AudienceAnumber of collaborative Internet communication tools support and enhance student collaboration. Many teachers struggle to develop authentic ways to help their students understand multiple perspectives and cultures. Through free and safe collaborative tools like e-mail, Wikis, and Google Docs, students can collaborate and share multiple perspectives across the content areas. Participants will identify places in their curricula where the integration of one of these tolls may lead to deeper understanding of content through collaboration. Date: Saturday, May 17, 2008 9 AM – 12 Noon Presenter:Lisa Zawlinski Brief Bio: Lisa Zawlinski is a doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction at UCONN and a part-time Reading and Language Arts Consultant in Simsbury. She is studying the ways in which Internet communication technologies enhance classroom instruction, support collaborative knowledge building, and prepare students for the 21st century literacy demands. As former co-director/Technical Liasion for the Connecticut Writing Project (Summer Institute 1996), Lisa has also provided workshops in technology and writing across the content areas.
