Writing Grants That Get Results

Do you like to write for a real purpose and an authentic audience?  Are you envious of other schools when you see what they’ve gotten through grants?  Does your school need more than the local budget can provide?  Then this is the workshop for you.  Learn what grant readers are looking for when they read grant proposals.  Discover how to respond to a Request for Proposals.  Work on designing a budget that meets grant requirements.  Explore potential grant funding sources.  Leave with the resources and confidence you need to pursue grant funds.

Date:  Saturday, January 26, 2008  9 AM – 12 Noon

Presenter:  Jane Cook

Brief Bio:  Jane Cook has worked as a Staff Development/Literacy and Educational Technology Specialist for EASTCONN for the past 22 years.  She wrote the first federal grant that was awarded to EASTCONN back in the early 1990’s; only 1% of the applicants across the country were funded that year.  She has written numerous other grants since that time, the majority of which have been funded.  Jane has been a grant reader for the CT State Department of Education for the past several years so she understands grant writing from the perspective of the writer and the reader.  Jane has also been a Project Coordinator on a number of grants that range from $50,000 to $750,000 and has expertise in budget development and management.
